The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a non-profit organization that is committed to making cotton cultivation more sustainable and fairer worldwide. The certification is therefore only relevant for the cultivation of cotton, and not for other parts of the production chain. The increased uptake of Better Cotton leads directly to increased investment in farmer training, better work environment, and biodiversity. This movement changes the life of BCI farmers and their communities. Here are few examples of how producing Better Cotton has real economic, social and environmental benefits: it reduces the environmental impact of cotton production by reducing water usage by 33% and pesticide use by 46%. It also improves the livelihoods of farmers by providing them with training on sustainable farming practices
